What we teach: Military and law enforcement groups don't have years to learn self defense, and neither do you. That is one reason why Reality Based Defense teaches a system of highly functional self defense and does not rely on a belt system approach that forces you to practice a technique thousands of times in order to perfect it. Instead we teach you how to truly defend yourself, fast. We teach the very first reality based self defense system ever created, called Rapid Assault Tactics (RAT), developed by Paul Vunak. RAT was developed in the 1980's (before copy cats came out around 2000) at the request of the US Navy Seal team 6. Seal team 6 was the Naval Special Warfare Command's tier-one special missions and counter-terrorism unit (now called DEVGRU). And they sought out Paul Vunak to develop the system we now teach. If that isn't enough, the primary principles of the system were taught by and are based on Bruce Lee's martial arts philosophy called Jeet Kune Do (JKD). The system uses simple techniques, economy of motion and ONLY WHAT WORKS. Bruce Lee was well known for taking what worked and immediately throwing out what didn't - and you should too. Come learn what works. |
About Instruction |
Women's Self Defense: Although the system of self defense we teach is useful for anyone, the system is especially effective for women. That is because the system we teach, called Rapid Assault Tactics, utilizes high percentage techniques that maximize your leverage to very quickly end confrontations with much larger opponents. Because the system is based on Bruce Lee's martial arts philosophy of Jeet Kune Do (JKD) it uses simple techniques, economy of motion and ONLY WHAT WORKS. Bruce Lee was well known for taking what worked and immediately throwing out what didn't - and you should too. |
Jeet Kune Do: Jeet Kune Do, created by Bruce Lee, is more of a martial arts philosophy than a style. This "way of the intercepting fist" essentially says "using no way as a way, using no limitations as a limitation" or in other words, there is no particular way and there are no limits to what you can use - bottom line is this: Jeet Kune Do USES ONLY WHAT WORKS. If something is found to save a fraction of a second and is a more economical motion for the application, then it is used. Using this philosophy results in highly efficient and effective martial arts techniques and methods of self defense. Jeet Kune Do has been described as the ultimate martial art because it allows for flexibility to use techniques from anywhere, as long as they work given the situation. No one martial art is best, so why not learn one that lets you take all the best aspects from other styles? To learn more about Jeet Kune Do visit wikipedia here . |
